Julia Regi - Adjudicator
Previously a highly successful dancer, Julia moved to Australia from New York City and Paris where she was working and dancing at the Joyce theatre as a freelance principal dancer.
Before that, Julia was a Soloist with the Finnish National Ballet in Helsinki and ENB in London, Nancy Ballet as well as Montecarlo company.
Born and raised in Sweden, Julia started her training with Royal Swedish Ballet School.
At the age of 15, she was offered a scholarship with Hamburg Ballet School where she studied and had the opportunity to work with John Neumeir. She then returned to Sweden to complete her training with the Royal Swedish Ballet pre professional level.
During her career she worked with some of the most prominent and renowned choreographers in the world including Sylvie Guillem, Natalia Makarova, Patrice Bart, John Neumeier, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Jorma Uotinen, Pierre Lacotte, Per Jonsson and many others.
Julia danced with Jene Ballet de France in Paris and the Royal Swedish Ballet Company before accepting a place with Finnish National Ballet Company. She was soon promoted to Soloist roles (despite being only 20 years of age). While with the Finnish National Ballet, she performed soloist roles in Nureyev’s The Nutcracker, Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet, Makarova’s La Bayadere, Beigmeister’s Swan Lake, Jorma Uotinen Firebird, Nureyev’s Sleeping Beauty and Sylvie Guillem’s Giselle and William Forsythe’s Second Detail etc
She then joined the English National Ballet Company performing in ballets including the Nutcracker and Cinderella at the rank of Junior Soloist.
Upon leaving the English National Ballet, Julia decide to extend herself to other styles of dance. Further developing herself as an artist, she worked at the famous French Cabaret Lido de Paris and Casino Estoril, before returning to classical ballet and freelance as guest Artist in New York, she has also been invited as guest principal artist to Hungary,Sweden,Japan, USA, Brazil and among other places.
In 2010 she settled in Australia and began her teaching and coaching career and international adjudicator.
In 2012 international classical ballet academy was established in partnership with Damian Hannan where she has been teaching professional young dancers given many of her students the chance to become professional ballet dancers around the world.
She has been working with professional schools all over Australia, Nee Zealand, Royal Swedish Ballet School (Malmö) Royal Ballet School with Gailne Stock among others.
She is also teaching Master Classes in Classical Ballet and been teaching Ballet Companies such as Finish National Ballet,studios in London and Paris,Australian Ballet Schools, Australian Ballet, QL Ballet, Bangkok Ballet and she is open to experience many more Ballet Schools and Companies in Europe and USA.Julia is also an Adjudicator in Dance cross Australia and Internationally.
She has adjudicated, Euro Dance competitions, YAGP, Swedish Ballet competition, AHA competition in NZ, Mildura, Lake Macquarie, seal, gunnedah, south street, Taree, mount Gambier Eisteddfodd.,
